Follow our simple preparation methods to create a tender and juicy tri tip that will have everyone coming back for seconds!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 & 1/2 pound tri tip roast
  • 1 & 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon seasoning salt
  • 1 & 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried or fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine garlic salt, seasoning salt, kosher salt, black pepper, sugar, garlic powder, parsley, and olive oil. Mix well.
  2. Marinate the tri tip by placing it in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pouring the marinade over it. Ensure it's evenly coated, seal or cover, and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight.
  3. For grilling: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Remove the tri tip from the marinade and cook for about 25 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of approximately 135°F (medium-rare), turning occasionally.
  4. For roasting: Preheat the oven to 425°F. Place the marinated tri tip on a foil-lined baking sheet and roast for about 25 minutes until the same internal temperature is achieved.
  5. Let the cooked tri tip rest for at least ten minutes before slicing against the grain into thin pieces.
