Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 (14.5 oz) cans cut green beans
  • 6 slices of chicken or turkey bacon
  • Pinch of brown sugar (optional)
  • Olive oil (if needed)

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken or turkey bacon into small pieces and cook in a wide pot or skillet until crispy.
  2. Remove the bacon using a slotted spoon, leaving about three tablespoons of drippings in the skillet. Add olive oil if necessary.
  3. Stir in the canned green beans with their liquid and add a pinch of brown sugar.
  4. Cook uncovered over high heat until boiling, then reduce heat to medium-high, allowing gentle boiling for 20 minutes.
  5. After 20 minutes, add the reserved bacon pieces and continue cooking for another 10-15 minutes until most liquid evaporates and the beans sizzle in drippings.
  6. Once browning appears at the bottom, remove from heat and serve hot.
