  • 5 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium head green cabbage, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 ½ cups chicken broth
  • 2 medium Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. In a Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté for about 4 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in the chopped cabbage, potato chunks, chicken broth, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes. Mix well.
  3. Cover the pot with a lid and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for approximately 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove the lid and increase heat to medium-high. Cook until most of the liquid has evaporated (about 12 to 14 minutes), stirring occasionally.
