- 1 head cabbage
- 2/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup uncooked white rice
- 2 (10.75 oz) cans tomato soup
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and blanch it in salted boiling water for 12-14 minutes. Reserve 8 leaves for rolling.
- Layer leftover cabbage leaves at the bottom of an 11×8 baking dish.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the rice according to package instructions.
- In a bowl, mix tomato soup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce until blended.
- Combine ground beef, cooked rice, onion, beaten egg, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
- Place filling in the center of each cabbage leaf and roll tightly. Arrange rolls in the baking dish.
- Pour remaining tomato mixture over the rolls and cover with aluminum foil.
- Bake for about 90 minutes or until fully cooked.
