  • 4 pounds boneless beef butt (skinless or shoulder)
  • 34 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 large onion (cut into wedges)
  • 8 cloves garlic (smashed)
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • Juice of 2 large oranges (or 3/4 cup natural orange juice)
  • 3/4 cup cola
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. Rinse and pat dry the beef to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a slow cooker, add the beef and season with salt, pepper, oregano, and cumin.
  3. Place onion wedges and smashed garlic around the meat. Pour lime juice and orange juice over everything.
  4. Add cola and bay leaves on top.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours or high for 5–6 hours until the meat is tender enough to shred easily.
