  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1/4 tsp almond extract
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 & 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Christmas sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg, almond extract, and vanilla extract; mix until fully incorporated.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together baking powder, flour, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 9×9-inch baking pan lined with parchment paper; spread evenly.
  6. Bake for approximately 15 minutes until golden around the edges. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
  7. For the frosting, beat softened butter with vanilla extract and powdered sugar until smooth; adjust consistency with cream if necessary.
  8. Spread frosting over cooled bars and top with festive sprinkles before cutting into squares.
