- ½ cup water
- 2 egg yolks

- 32 ounces apple dessert filling/topping
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons melted or softened butter
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons whole milk
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the lard until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Combine water, egg yolks, and lemon juice in a measuring cup and pour over the flour mixture. Mix gently with a fork until just combined.
- Roll half the dough into a jelly roll pan. Spread apple filling evenly over it.
- Roll out the remaining dough and place it over the filling; cut slits for steam vents.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown.
